The first school we are partnering with is Celje School Centre – Secondary School for Construction and Environmental Protection, where the class of future environmental protection technicians is actively involved. Through this collaboration, students will explore sustainability in practice and learn how innovative thinking can contribute to real-world environmental improvements.

Green Incubator event in Celje

The programme began with an introduction by Petrisa Čanji Vouri, founder of the Green Incubator project and president of the Green Student Network. She guided students through the process of developing a business idea and explained the crucial steps needed to transform ideas into tangible solutions — including how projects can be financed.

Next, Jure Rejec, FSC’s representative for Slovenia, introduced FSC: who we are, how our certification system works, and why responsible forest management matters. He also presented the “FSC Challenge”, a special competition within the programme that unfolds in three rounds.

This year’s challenge focuses on the reuse of waste wood and designing a campaign to raise awareness about FSC. In the first round, students were divided into groups of three and tasked with developing their own sustainable entrepreneurial concept. They then pitched their ideas to a committee consisting of Jure Rejec, Petrisa Čanji Vouri, and their teacher, Primož Vouk.

The students impressed the committee with a diverse range of creative and practical ideas: wooden toothbrushes, cardboard grout-filling boxes, wooden phone stands, interior décor items, wooden kitchen organisers, and wooden shopping baskets, among many others.

The most promising ideas will now continue into the development phase, supported by their teacher. After the second presentation round, the selected teams will present their refined solutions directly to FSC representatives for whom the ideas were designed. The third and final round of the challenge is scheduled to take place in February 2026.

We are already looking forward to the next steps and to continuing this inspiring collaboration.
